There is a set limit for children based on their genetic code of how much innate capabilities and potential intelligence that
they can reach. The nature of intelligence explains that some children are determined from the start, some childrens intellectual
potential may be destined to be bright, and others may be average or destined to be slow learners.
At birth, each child has a genetic potential for intellectual development; but their chances of attaining, or achieving
their potential are conditioned by environmental factors. Whatever a childs intellectual potential, it will only be realized
if the right kind of stimulation or resources are provided. The extent to which a child realizes his or her genetic potential
depends on socioeconomic environment. The environment can build or damage, delay or advance the development of intelligence
that is the ability to learn. The ability that is determined in everyones genetic code needs to be nourished, and what happens
during the earliest years of childhood is the most crucial where half of the total intellectual growth takes place.

From this demonstration
it shows us that our genes provide us with determined intellectual potential, but whether the potential can be realized is
determined by environmental conditions. In order for a potential trait to develop, opportunities are essential such as opportunity
of exploration, language and play.
If
a child is exposed to a deprived environment such as poverty, drug addiction, abuse, or neglect there can be many negative consequences and damaging effects on their intellectual growth, the child will not develop
their potential to the fullest extent and their ability to learn remains stunted.
